What We Do | Research & Learning
Research Facilitator.
In our role as research facilitators, we take a lighter touch role, promoting research that we think benefits tenants and meets our organisation’s values. We sometimes help recruit for research projects and actively seek to host findings in our series of #WednesdayWebinars.

Exposing the stigma around social housing
We facilitated Durham University Business School researchers Dr Mercy Denedo and Prof Amanze Ejiogu deliver a well-attended #WednesdayWebinar on this topic. Their research has informed our training module ‘Understanding Stigma as a Wicked Problem’. You can find out more about their work here: https://www.durham.ac.uk/business/impact/society/exposing-the-stigma-around-social-housing/ (Social ‘Sink Estates’)
Sensors in social housing
This University of York research was one of the first of its kind to independently examine the use of sensor technology in tenants homes. Dr Alison Wallace delivered an engaging #WednesdayWebinar that resulted in lively debate and a response piece written by Dr Hannah Absalom that provided an alternative view of the report’s conclusions about tenant support for sensor technology. You can find the report here.
Facilitating this research has highlighted for us that ‘proptech’, the use of digital and often internet-connected technologies in tenants’ homes, is an agenda that requires more independent research with tenants.
