What We Do

Our Strategy.

The objective of TAROE Trust is to ensure that tenants and residents are at the heart of housing policy-making and regulated landlord practice.

We ensure tenants and residents across England are at the centre of thinking and action through:

Influencing policy

We engage with the government on behalf of tenants and residents of the regulated housing sector. We also lobby for below-market renting to be made more universally available in England. Everyone has the right to a quality, affordable property that they can make their home.

Research

we support and engage in research that centres tenants’ experiences of their homes, landlord services and wider social complexities that can inhibit tenants from leading an actualised life of their choice. We believe housing practice and professional standards should be informed by evidence and we work to bring new evidence and research to the regulated housing sector.

Services to landlords

we offer training and consultancy packages to work with regulated landlords on developing high-quality services to tenants, to aid in cultural transformation and on building safety. See <SERVICES> for details of our offer. We offer a mix of ‘off the shelf’ training, responsive training and bespoke packages based on our decades of housing, policy and research expertise.

Working with tenants

We understand relationships don’t end when the research ends, so we offer ongoing support and advocacy for tenants participating in our research activity. We host free-to-access webinars and a regular newsletter so tenants are kept informed of new ideas shaping housing and the shifting policy landscape. We host policy consultations and workshops to ensure tenants’ views inform our campaigning work and are a core part of shaping national housing policy.

We are unique within the regulated housing sector as we are the independent charity for regulated sector tenants and residents. We have expertise in policymaking and practice, and are leaders of innovation through our expertise in emotionally informed research and practice. We believe that understanding that home is an emotional place is a bedrock to better quality homes and landlord services. We operate to high ethical standards and you can find out more about our <VALUES> and our <SERVICES>
